How This Calculator Works
Every Hebrew letter has a numeric value (א = 1, ב = 2, all the way to ת = 400). Gematria adds up the values of a word's letters to get a single number. Niqud (vowel marks) and punctuation are ignored — only the consonant letters count. Choose By Word to see every word's value individually, By Sentence to sum each sentence, or Total for one grand sum across the whole text. Want to learn more about gematria itself, including famous examples like חי = 18? Read our Hebrew Gematria Guide.
