Short version: Hebrew Mastery does not collect, store, or share any personal information from its users. We do not know who you are. The only third-party component in the app is Google AdMob, which may collect limited advertising-related data as described below.
This Privacy Policy describes how Hebrew Mastery (“the App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our iOS application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being fully transparent about how the App operates.
1. Information We Collect
We collect nothing. Hebrew Mastery does not collect, transmit, store, or process any personal information about you. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information.
- We do not collect your location data.
- We do not collect device identifiers on our own servers.
- We do not create user accounts or profiles.
- We do not use analytics SDKs or crash-reporting tools that send data to us.
- We do not track your usage, session length, or in-app behaviour.
All app data (your quiz progress, known words, settings preferences) is stored exclusively on your device using Apple’s standard local storage. This data never leaves your device and is never accessible to us.
2. Third-Party Advertising — Google AdMob
The App displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a service provided by Google LLC. AdMob may collect and process certain data in order to serve ads, including:
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, where permitted by your device settings)
- IP address (used to infer approximate country/region for ad targeting)
- Device type, operating system version, and language settings
- Ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. We have no access to it. Google’s data collection is governed by Google’s own Privacy Policy, available at: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdMob is certified under several privacy frameworks. You can review Google’s advertising practices and opt-out options at: https://adssettings.google.com
3. Your Rights Under GDPR (European Users)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent laws. Because we do not collect any personal data ourselves, we are not a data controller in relation to your personal information.
For data collected by Google AdMob, Google acts as the data controller or processor. To exercise your GDPR rights in relation to Google’s data processing, please contact Google directly via their Privacy Policy linked above, or visit the Google Data Request form.
You may also limit ad tracking on your iOS device at any time by going to:
- iOS 14+: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → disable “Allow Apps to Request to Track”
- All iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising → disable “Personalized Ads”
When ad tracking is limited, AdMob will serve non-personalised ads. The App functions fully regardless of your tracking preference.
4. Your Rights Under CCPA (California Users)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you certain rights. Because we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information, the majority of CCPA provisions do not apply to our direct practices.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioural advertising on our behalf.
For any Google AdMob-related CCPA requests, please refer to Google’s privacy controls at policies.google.com/privacy.
5. Children’s Privacy
Hebrew Mastery is a general-audience educational application. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). Since we collect no personal data at all, this applies equally to users of all ages.
Google AdMob provides controls for child-directed treatment of ads. The App does not designate itself as child-directed, but parents can restrict ad tracking via iOS Screen Time and Privacy settings.
6. Data Retention
We retain no data because we collect no data. Your local app data (quiz progress, excluded words, settings) is stored on your device and is deleted automatically when you uninstall the App. You can also reset all local data from within the App via Settings → Reset Known Words.
7. Data Security
Since no personal data is transmitted to or stored on our servers, there is no server-side security risk associated with your use of Hebrew Mastery. Your local app data is protected by iOS’s standard app sandboxing and device encryption.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated “Last updated” date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
